Rapier Thrust is a rare card released on July 24th, 2020. It costs 3 bits, deals 35 damage, and returns 50% of the buffs that were consumed back to the user. If the target is a summoned entity, it will return 150% of the buffs that were consumed. Note that it will return the attack debuffs on you and the defense buffs/debuffs that were on the enemy entity as well.
The maximum amount of consumed buffs that can be brought back is capped out at 350% and -350%, if a player attempts to stack more, it only brings back the maximum amount allowed (350% or -350%).
Attack Modifiers will affect the returned buff.
If the user uses Rapier Thrust on an empty tile, it will return 50% buffs consumed back to the user.
Strategy[]
Rapier Thrust is a situational card that can be really strong or really weak. The use of the card is to buff a player, a lot, then start using it to deal heavy damage repeatedly for a lower cost. Due to the card being able to reuse buffs, it can be used in succession which, when done properly, can deal more damage than Darksteel Longblade. Rapier Thrust can also be used on Agony Seal which will act as a 100% attack buff that can be recycled. So if a player used a base damage rapier, with an agony below them, on a regular enemy, they would deal 70 damage and get a 50% attack buff back.
Trivia[]
If the user uses Rapier Thrust on an Agony Seal or Protection Seal, the user will receive an 50% attack buff/debuff (150% on summons), however if the target is on an Agony Seal or Protection Seal, the aura buff will not be recycled.
Rapier Thrust was popularly used as a strategy, dubbed "rapier strat" during Thaamoth, Hallowed Spirit raids, where players would buff themselves with buff cards, and then attack the summons produced from World Tear. Since World Tear enemies count as summons, the attacker would keep all the buffs, which if executed multiple times would eventually get even the strongest World Tear summons such as Murphfle Fibshis and Arcovian Knights to go down in just a few rapiers. This can leave Thaamoth, Hallowed Spirit absolutely destroyed with all the buffs and super powerful damaging cards such as Darksteel Longblade.
